How l love these lines:

“as if the mountains themselves

are reminding you

that some things are meant

to hold us

without ever being held.”

That’s it exactly - and it’s that gift that so hard to accept.

Beautifully said and much appreciated by a Colorado native, sadly living in the desert!

The peace I get when hiking in the mountains and seeing how majestic the mountains are, beautiful piece of writing, stills the heart

One of the first posts I created is about Cathedral Grove in British Columbia. It’s like walking down hallways in God’s house.

This is lovely as are the peaks about which you write and the feelings of peace that they elicit. They’ll do that if you let them. It’s the solid quiet except for a bird or so that lets you be still and listen. The ocean is noisy which leads to a different feeling but it’s the stillness that is what is so attractive.

This is how I will always feel about my mountains, the Appalachians. These gentle giants that roll down most of the eastern seaboard were once as rugged as those in Canada or the US West. They have been worn down by time and weather, much like the way Hurricane Helene once again changed the face of the mountains that once cradled me before I had to leave them after 76 years. They, though, will never be out of my heart for I will be a mountain girl forever.

On a day like today, your thoughts are needed and will be for a while I’m thinking.

I felt the whisper in my soul. They continue to hold their secrets

For no one can rip away their bonds to each other

To the sky

To the land they rose from.

Your poem is a magical experience

So needed by me. My heart was running faster than my presence. My place has been nestled in these mountains which I can access anytime but forget. Thank you
