When I saw the number of people at my local protest on a busy bridge in CT, and heard the number of cars honking in support as they drove by, it literally brought tears to my eyes. It took me until today to figure out why I got so emotional. For a few hours we felt that feeling of HOPE again…
And the best part of the June 14 No Kings protests was that 'We the people ' reached over 11 million.. This means ' We the People ' have reached 3.5% of the population that are actively involved in RESISTING AUTOCRACY!!!!
This 3.5% is the number that can hold back a Autocratic Regime.
Right now ,from June 15,2025 and every dam day going forward- As these facts & figures percolate into each Congressional Republican's
Fascist- Filled pea brains...the words of Liz Cheney will haunt their every move...' I say this to my fellow Republican Colleagues, who are defending the indefensible, there will come a time when Donald Trump is gone...but your dishonor will remain. '
I pray we have many more elections that are fair!!! We marched yesterday also in small villages and towns in Upstate NY. We got honks, waves and some middle fingers and boos but no violence where I was.
Brava! Yes! So much hope! If I feel better tomorrow, I am going to a protest against my local representative. He isn’t doing town halls, but he is being interviewed somewhere tomorrow, so…
I love your writing but this isn’t entirely true. I met several people at the protest in Austin who had voted for the ShitWeasel at least once and were protesting because they regretted it. Probably the majority of the 11 million did vote for the woman. But not all.
I almost wrote this....but I love Gloria so much that decided against it. I wish it were true. The more I read the morecI believe that Kamala Harris DID WIN THE ELECTION. I DO NOT THINK ANYONE WOULD BE SURPRISED!!
Love, LOVE this! Never gonna kneel. Never going back. Moving valiantly and PROUDLY forward. Thank you, Gloria, for summing up the day so brilliantly--we voted for the woman.
I am so proud of my fellow Americans who have risen up out what initially was (at least for me) abject despair several months ago, and shown themselves mighty in the face of a fascist regime and those who bow down to it.
I have put in a prominent place in my home a reminder to myself--a quote that's credited to Colette Werden: "It's okay if you fall down and lose your spark. Just make sure that when you get back up, you rise as the whole damn fire." That's what yesterday reminded me of, and it's how I'm feeling energized today.
Inspirational! You moved me to reflect on my voting for women on the Democratic presidential ballot all four times they appeared: Mondale-Ferraro*, Clinton-Kaine, Biden-Harris, Harris-Walz. Something I'm proud of! 😊
* Geraldine Ferraro, the first woman nominated for national office by a major political party.
I haven’t been so happy in ten years. My little over-red city showed up in larger numbers than I ever would have guessed. We whooped and hollered, beat drums and listened to speakers. I am so proud! I was happy to be with my peeps but mostly to know I wasn’t alone in my love of and passion for our democracy. God bless America!
I saw a sign that said they were so sorry they voted for him. That’s not an easy thing to do, and I promise there were others out there with us who voted for him and are regretting it. As much as we wish they would’ve woken up sooner, we have to be so glad to see them there, too. We don’t have to agree on much besides the Constitution to bring this regime to its knees.
I celebrate the success of Saturday, the growing outrage against the disastrous Trump and his cabinet, the fact that Trump was humiliated by the failure of his parade in front of a watching world, and the increasing momentum of people stepping up and speaking out against Trump. We must keep our eyes open to protect those in harms way as he turned up the dial on ICE grabbing individuals at greater speed. God save us from this weak unbalanced man!
Gloria, your writing is poetry. Thank you!
From one of the ELEVEN MILLION who brought along two other protesters 💙💙💙

Susan: me too - it brought tears to my eyes seeing how many joyful and determined people came out in my neighborhood.
Gloria, you write so eloquently ❤️
I remember seeing a protest sign from last time that was right on; it said, “Elect a rapist-expect to get Fucked!”
Truth!

I SO hope that this dissent registered with all those who are representing us.
I So hope that the orange blob is impeached and jailed
Thank you to everyone who marched for all of us who cannot (for health reasons).
No Kings Day was monumental! Huge! Loud! Joyful!
Just wait ‘til the MAGAts get an eye full of our NEXT action!
Keep up the momentum, friends.
We were victorious! We won't stop. Beautiful words, Gloria. You are not forgotten, Kamala.
Once again, you captured the moment....
