As a 66 year old transwoman, married to a cis female who knew who I was when she married me, has gone through everything required to be " a real girl", including correct birth certificate, driver's license, and everything else. Hey, my cis-female wife also has no ovaries or uterus, and is on hormone replacement therapy. LOL

A retired IT professional who made it into executive ranks, I am no better off once MAGA takes over, than a 15 year old transperson just starting out. My life could yet be turned upside down in a New York Minute, even out here in Arizona. Yet, if called upon, I will use my state's Stand Your Ground law as necessary. Just because I'm liberal doesn't mean I'm not also capable of defending myself and my loved ones. MAGA best not tread on me.

Oh, Honey... Hell hath no fury like a woman who waited 55 years to become who she always knew she was.

VOTE BLUE. Biden, Harris, whoever. UP ballot and down ballot. VOTE BLUE.

Oh my gosh, this is really, really good. You are very talented! Of course I hate the topic - and the truth of it. You are so on point. Thank you for sharing.

It helps to pour my feelings into words. It’s like letting the badness go-a little.

I would love to share this poem to a FB page, only with proper accreditation and your permission of course. The emotion, the energy, and the urgency needs to be read and listened to by a wider audience. Thank you for composing such moving words in these troubling times.

Please share my poem. Ask others to do so as well. It is vital that we reach out to one another. Silence will shackle us.

Thank you so much, Nancy.

Lebanese-American poet Kahlil Gibran. It appears in his book "The Garden of the Prophet," published posthumously in 1933. My copy is dog-eared.

"Pity the nation that wears a cloth it does not weave,

eats bread it does not harvest,

and drinks wine that flows not from its own winepress."

Beautiful. I love reading your poems.

Spent my day in quest of rhyme to write

Your verse is ever more erudite.

My struggle to find the words ain’t fake

I’m a Mathematician for heavens sake.

Poetry and Math are constant companions. There is a beat, a number to rhyme that I count. Syllables counts are critically important for balance.

Agreed. I did, in fact, spend an inordinate amount of time composing two lines. Music and math are inexorably linked as well.
